Where it started
"Your first time in a fancy cafe" spread on TikTok on November 1 and 2, 2026. The earliest version we found is by @stevenwommack, posted on November 1. Within a day several other creators posted their own takes on the same joke, and a Korean version by @kkubi99 added the caption that named the trend: "POV: Your first time in a fancy cafe".

What happens in the clip
The setup is the same in every version. A bare, grey concrete cafe with a low concrete bench along the wall and small round steel tables at knee height. The first-timer sits on one of the little tables with a coffee, as if it were a stool. A regular walks in, sits on the bench and puts their cup on the other table. The first-timer looks over, looks down, freezes, then climbs off, puts the cup on the table they were sitting on and sits on the bench like nothing happened.
